Chapter 6 Summary:

After reading this chapter I gained a deeper appreciation of how crucial multi-layered security features are important to protect against all kinds of potential threats. From physical security such as surveillance systems and access controls, that safeguard physical assets to logical security features like encryption and firewalls that protect data from cyber threats. Learning about digital certificates and server certificates in my studies for the CompTIA security+ certification really helped me understand the material in this chapter. Understanding the different kinds of cyber threats that exist has made me more vigilant about the security of my personal devices and the data I share online, as a result I have started to use stronger passwords. Thanks to my studies, I recognize the potential risks associated with seemingly harmless actions, such as clicking on links in emails or visiting unfamiliar websites. Phishing emails are one of the most common ways that devices become infected with viruses and malware. The best way to prevent this is to educate users about the risks of clicking on unknown links. The material from this chapter has not only reinforced my knowledge of cybersecurity but have also given me a sense of responsibility in educating others about the potential risks of suspicious links and websites. I believe that sharing information about best practices when it comes to email and web surfing is crucial for anyone to have in this day and age.
